This Song Is Dedicated To My Father
My dad always encouraged me to stay connected to my music and he always supported my wild and crazy life.
He didn’t understand it but he was always there for me. He was my friend and got to hear a few of these songs before he passed away.
45 Years Of Smoking
My dad smoked cigarettes for about 45 years. He always said that if it was life or death he woulds give them up. At age 57 he had a quadruple bypass and quite smoking.
20 years later he was diagnosed with ephazeja.
To him, he was on borrowed time and made the most of it.
He was on oxygen 24/7 and would go out to the garden or his greenhouse and play with his plants.
One day I went out to check on him. He was lying in the grass at the edge of a well manicured flower bed.
I yelled DAD! I thought he had died from over exertion. He looked up and said I’m fine, get me a beer, its time for a break.
You Know I’ll Miss You But I’ll Be Fine
One day my dad sat down with me to inform me that congestive heart failure was eminent and he didn’t have much time.
I told him, “you know I’ll miss you, but I’ll be fine.”
A few weeks later I wrote this song for his memorial party. My dad did not want a church service, he wanted a party.
He put money said to throw a big bash at his favorite restaurant. It was grand.
RIP Dad, I miss you.
