Play The Game Go For A Ride
This is a very personal song about a part of my life that, on the outside looked promising and successful but on the inside was very dark. Play the game was my theme! Life was a game back then.
Play the game is also about not taking temporary situations too seriously.
Life Went On And I Began To Fall
In my late 20’s I landed an amazing position. It provided more money than I ever thought I could make. Which, also provided me with enough money to get into serious trouble.
Beretta 92 And A Bottle Of Gin
One night I decided I had had enough. The magic of life was gone and life just, as I say in the song:
“Life just was’n no fun at all. The Devil came knockin’, a monkey on my back. For years I could’t see the light, everything was black”
I sat down with a bottle of gin and a loaded gun with the full intention of ending my life.
Everything was black.
Then The Light Rose Up
I drank too much and passed out before I pulled the trigger. WOW! Things looked different in the morning. Besides a pounding headache and a fierce hang over, I have a new lease on life.
The magic had returned and I was on a new path. I haven’t touched cocaine for over 30 years and have no interest in seeing if the monkey is still around.
