What Is The Score?
Keeping score is something we all do and we do it in many ways. Some do it by comparing. For example, I have more money than you so I have a higher score. Other measure by toys. Back in the 90’s a time of great opulence, there were posters and t-shirts everywhere that said, “The man who dies with the most toys wins!”
In reality, This could not be further from the truth.
How Do You Keep Score?
One day when I was watching football with my father he turned to me out of the blue and said, “I’m really proud of you Toby.” When I asked why he said that he had been thinking about all of the people who were positively affected by the work I do.
You see, my father kept score by how much good a person brought into the world. Also, by how many people have you helped, and how have you made the world a better place.
These were the things that were important to him.
The Way You Keep Track Reveals Core Values
Your core values really show when it comes to keeping score. How you track your value and accomplishments and track your motivation show what is most important to you. These are your Core Values.
Your core values are the fuel that propels you towards what you determine to be success.
They are the foundation for your inspiration and innovation.
When you are problem solving, your core values get tested. Will you do the right thing, or solve the problem in a way that is not in alignment with who you really are?
