10 Questions To Answer That Will Make 2014 Your Best Year!

10 Questions To Answer That Will Make 2014 Your Best Year!

10 questions that are a must ask for success.

1- What did I Accomplish

Rather than starting from what didn’t work out, focus on what areas of your life you really thrived in and achieved solid results. List them out and take a few minutes to re-enjoy them. As you do, think about what success pattern was at work. What did you do that made them happen? The more you focus on what works and making it better, the bigger your results will become. The more often you bring these patterns and daily rituals of success into your life, the bigger the success, and the faster it will come to you!

2- What were my biggest disappointments?

No matter how skilled and successful you are, if you are going full out and shooting for the stars, there will be some disappointments. In the world of skiing I always say, “If I don’t fall, I am not pushing myself. and if I am not pushing myself I am not progressing.” So, which areas didn’t go as you hoped?  Identify the root cause.  You can do this by asking yourself WHY, getting a response, usually in the form of “because…”, then ask why again. Repeat the process 4 to 5 times and you’ll likely have a much better idea as to the real root cause behind the seeming disappointment.

Once you’ve got that… then ask yourself what can I learn from this? If you fail to figure out HOW the result occurred and what area your efforts were insufficient or some other factor(s) was at play then you are not likely to achieve that goal in 2014. If what you did, didn’t work, you need to do something different.

3- What did I learn?

Capture all the things you’ve learned in the past 12 months. What areas of learning have you excelled in? If you want to earn more, learning more, of the right kinds of things this exercise can be a real advantage. Make a list of them and discover ways you can apply them to the coming year. Some of what you learned can be about what you can do for 2014 and others can be what not to repeat!

4- How do I limit myself and how can I stop?

Our beliefs act as powerful game rules on what we do and will not do. Some of the things you hold as true; are not true at all. We aren’t interested so much if the one belief is true, and so a matter of fact, but rather whether it is a USEFUL belief to hold on to for your desired outcome.

Identify at least 3 ways in which your thoughts and actions have held you back in 2013 and how you can change that in the year ahead.

5- What are my Personal Core values?

The end of year is a good time to update personal or Core Values. You’d be surprised what has changed and also what stays the same. You can use this information to act as filters on your decisions regarding what to pursue in the year ahead and what you can finally drop that no longer serves you or meets your needs.

A value is a belief, a mission, or a philosophy that is meaningful. Whether we are consciously aware of them or not, every individual has a core set of personal values. Values can range from the commonplace, such as the belief in hard work and punctuality, to the more psychological, such as self-reliance, concern for others, and harmony of purpose. Here are some common core or personal values:

wisdom, integrity, honesty, kindness, gratitude, forgiveness, hope, faith, love, creativity, courage, family, justice, success. This will get you started, find your core values, and create the foundation for your success.

6- What roles do I play in my life?

The roles you play to shape your life in incredible ways.  Hero, victim, friend, lover, mother, etc. Who you define yourself as has a significant impact on what you will allow yourself to experience. Take a moment to review what are all the roles that are explicit (e.g. parent, sister, friend) and which are roles that you’ve taken on or were placed upon you, which use up your time. Which roles can you drop and are there new ones to take up?

You might expand this question by asking; What are my goals for each role I  choose to take on in the coming year?

Make a list of your roles followed by one goal that you will achieve for that role. This may lead to the elimination or addition of roles you decide to connect with!

7- Which role is my major focus for the next year?

A big key to getting more of what you want is the focus and sustained action. Choose one role that will be your most important area of focus in the year ahead. Write it down along with the reason why.

8- What are my top 10 goals for 2014?

Time to zero in on which results, that if you achieve in the year ahead, will make 2014 your best year yet. Behind every long term, a successful person is the habit of deliberate focus and choosing to say yes to a few things and no to many, rather than yes to everything! Another key is to create daily rituals that support your goals! What you are today is the result of the actions you have taken up to now!!

9- How can I make sure I achieve my top ten goals?

This is where the rubber meets the road. It’s not enough simply to have your top ten goals. You’ll want to begin to plan out how you can make those results “inevitable” or as close to it as you can.

What is really essential here?
Most of the time you don’t need to do everything in order to get to your outcome, you can take shortcuts or reduce steps.

What sequence should I go about achieving this goal?
What resources are needed both internal (mindset, states, habits, etc.) and external (people, money, time, etc.)?
How can I commit myself to this result in a way where it will trigger me to act and stay in action? Perhaps you’ll enroll a loved one or friend into the goal.
Maybe you work best to fixed deadlines and so you’ll sign up to run that 5K and ask your friends for support.

Everyone has certain triggers that cause them to take action and stay in action; the trick is to figure out what are yours and then intentionally use them to move forward automatically.
